We are your online connection to what's going on in with local fishing hot spots, information and reports. Personally I try to get out fishing about 2-3 times a month and if not more in the summer. If you'ref in need of local methods are places to go we are sure to help. Popular fishing methods I like are lure fishing for seabass, kayaking around points and islands, using live bait of the surfbreakers, and vertical jigging for big yellowtails. All these methods are my favorites so please come back from to time to see some up to date reports on the local action. Fukuoka is really one of the best cities to be in with it's surrounding proximity of beaches and islands. Local islands here produce some fantastic shore jigging for yellowtails making them a very fun game fish to target. Near an island called Ikitsuki you can even target mahi mahi as they make their way to the southern areas of Okinawa. The beaches are crystal clear with lots of small fish called Kissu making them a fun and delicious quarry for the frying pan. Seabass fishing is really one of my favorite methods through out the year because the local area produces some large fish that can be targeted with bait, lures or the fly. All of these seabass methods I really enjoy and now that we have a kayak it's making fishing around the harbor even more fun. Jigging is one method that I've learned while being in Japan. Charter boats leave from Fukuoka and will take you out to the surrounding islands which are about 1-2 hours away. Once you're in the zone drop your jig and start to use popular Japanese jigging methods. The target fish's are yellowtail, amberjacks and tunas. Starting this 2008 I will get into lure casting for large 50kg tuna!! I'm slowly getting the tackle needed to target these large fish and will be learning as I go. So those are some of the methods that friends and I like doing in Fukuoka and if you're interested in learning more please check us out! Tight lines, Nigel Paquin. |
