Snapper Fishing in Amakusa

My family and I all went to Amakusa which is very close to Kumamoto city. From Fukuoka it only takes about 2 1/2 hours to get there and the scenery was just amazing. The history is pretty cool actually... the mayor from years back decided to connect all the islands (5 of them) with bridges and everyone thought he was nuts for even thinking of this. His theory was if they build it they will come and they did...

Seabass Fishing with Max

I met a big guy like me in our local fishing store and was impressed because this guy could speak really good English. It turns out he's a crazy seabasser who has a few boats under his belt. One is for charters while the other smaller boat is for pleasure seabass hunting. I was invited to join him on a nice warm Thursday night, just before my class started at 7:40pm. How funny is this, I brought all my teaching clothes and was able to fish from 2:30 till 6:30, rush to work, get changed, make a lesson plan and have enough time to chug back a coffee too!

Went out last weekend with the father in-law, he's been really wanting to see the local surfbreaker I go to. We got up at 5 am and got out just in time for the first boat taxi out.

Well I did it!! I got my Japanese license and I'm super happy about the whole thing. Now I can rent from Yamaha boat rental down at Mariora City and won't have to use seabass charters anymore.

Kayaking around Keya Beach May 18th

Wayne and I headed out to Keya beach which is about 45 minutes from Fukuoka city. The idea was to bring out the yak and try some kissu fishing around the beaches. Also I got my new depth sounder so I was dying to try it out!! Brought some inchiku jigs along with some squid so we could go for the larger stuff on the bottom.
